Mental Health Awareness Week 2019 is here, and this year's focus is body image. The Mental Health Foundation has marked the start of Mental Health Awareness Week by publishing their latest research on Body Image. Their research has highlighted the link between body confidence and mental health. The Mental Health Foundation state that 1 in 5 adults have felt shame because of their bodiesin the past year, with 19% feeling disgusted over their appearance and over a third of adults having felt anxious or depressed as a result of their body image.
The Mental Health Foundation are working to encourage policy change to help promote positive body image, encouraging Social Media companies to take action in promoting all body types and erradicating online harrassment and bullying.
